Game Of Thrones season eight episode one has leaked online, hours before the show was set to return on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
Subscribers of streaming service DirecTV received a notification the season eight premiere had been uploaded onto the service four hours before its official return at 9pm in the US and 2am in the UK.
Considering HBO have managed to avoid leaks until now, unlike the many, many leaks during season seven, it’s likely particularly irritating for them an official streaming service has hit the button too early
In a statement to Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson for DirecTV said: ‘Apparently our system was as excited as we are for Game of Thrones tonight and gave a few DirecTV Now customers early access to the episode by mistake.
‘When we became aware of the error, we immediately fixed it and we look forward to tuning in this evening.’
DirecTV is a streaming service in the US which offers HBO programmes at a premium rate.
