June 12: Buhari, Osinbajo, Lawan, Gbajabiamila, Abiola’s Family Arrive Eagles Square



Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Eagles Square, Abuja, venue for the maiden celebration of the 2019 Democracy Day.


Immediately he arrived, he took the mandatory military salute, while standing on the dais after which the national anthem was taken collectively.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had arrived at the venue a few minutes prior to the arrival of the President.

Osinbajo led other top government officials to receive other world leaders at the venue.

The new Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila have also arrived venue for the celebration.

Members of the late MKO Abiola’s family, including Kola are also at the Eagles Square.

Buhari is to ride in a special inspection vehicle to inspect guards on parade and acknowledge cheers from the invited guests.

All the troops are also to carry out parade march in slow and quick succession.

While military musical display, silent drill, and cultural troupe performance are planned for the celebration, all troops will also take part in advance in review order.

The President is expected to deliver the Democracy Day address where he might unfold his agenda for his second term administration.


He had been criticised for failing to address Nigerians on May 29, which was his inauguration date for his second term in office.
